Biography

Akua Adu-Gyamfi is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Agricultural Education at Auburn University in Alabama. With her extensive nine-year experience in sustainable agriculture issues, climate adaptive programs, data analysis in both quantitative and qualitative research, rural development, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes in both national and international environments, Akua is a true expert in her field.

Prior to joining Auburn University, Akua worked as a project coordinator for four years at Tuskegee University in Alabama, where she handled all data collection processes, data analysis, training, and program outreach for a USDA/AFRI project. Additionally, Akua coordinated the department’s internal publications, demonstrating her strong organizational and communication skills.

Before her time at Tuskegee University, Akua worked as a graduate researcher for two years on a USAID Project on food security along the peanut supply chain in the Northern region of Ghana. During this time, Akua worked closely with rural farmers for three months, studying their post-harvest processes and developing quantitative research to combat aflatoxin contamination. Akua provided technical assistance, training, outreach, capacity building, and leadership, showcasing her dedication to improving the lives of others.

In addition to her impressive work experience, Akua has co-authored 13 journal articles and a curriculum on food safety and sustainability issues in the local food context. She also interned with American Farmland Trust as their Climate Policy intern during Fall 2022, further demonstrating her commitment to environmental sustainability. Akua is a passionate individual who enjoys mentoring the younger generation and giving back to her community. Her expertise, experience, and dedication make her a valuable asset to any organization fortunate enough to work with her.
